The School of Histotechnician was established in 1994 and has graduated 28 students. It is part of the Department of Anatomic Pathology, which is comprised of several laboratory sections: Histology, Molecular Pathology, Mortuary, Immunology, Electron Microscopy, Cytogenetics, Surgical Pathology and Cytology. The staff at consists of board-certified pathologists, Ph.D.s, cytotechnologists, cytogenetic technologists, histotechnicians, histotechnologists, pathology assistants and laboratory assistants.
The School of Histotechnician offers students the opportunity to combine an associate's degree in science with practical experience in histology. Students will gain experience in histotechniques and histochemical staining.
The school accepts two students into its program each year. The program begins in September and ends in March. Students spend 40 hours a week in lectures and hands-on practice in the Anatomic Pathology department.
Corewell Health programs are not offered long-distance. You must attend the program full-time on the campus in Royal Oak.
